Agassiz Well Done
Lit crit professor
introduced me to
own fish, shoved
my face against jar.
Hard to stare all day
on full course load.
Went on to serve
seafood in restaurant
learning about many
species, tastes, parings.
See teacher, older
not gamey looking,
untainted with like
for me, her letter for
my grad school pleas
totally backhanded.
Stare and wonder,
what more I can learn.
